Mr. Gooi Seong Lim is one of the founders of Loo Geok Eng Foundation Limited (LGEF) which was set up in 2010 with the aim of providing financial assistance to needy students.
A graduate from University of Toronto, Canada with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Gooi also holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
From 1975 until to-date, he has been the Managing Director of Sharikat Kim Loong Sendirian Berhad (SKL), a company which owns a controlling stake in Crescendo Corporation Berhad (CCB) and Kim Loong Resources Berhad (KLR), both are public companies listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad.
Appointed to the board of CCB in 1995, Mr. Gooi currently serves as the Chairman and Managing Director of CCB. Mr Gooi was appointed to the board of KLR in 1990 and serves as the Executive Chairman of KLR since 2006. Apart from these, Mr Gooi has been a director of Kim Loong Palm Oil Sdn. Bhd. (KLPO), a company involved in palm oil milling, since 1977. The success of the Group owes much to his extensive involvement in construction, property development, plantation and milling operations. He also sits on the board of several other private companies.
Recognizing that education plays an important role in community development, CCB through its subsidiary Crescendo International College Sdn Bhd, the tertiary education arm of CCB Group, provides GCE A Level, external degree programs and professional courses at affordable rates. CCB has also initiated an international school, namely Crescendo-HELP International School, through a joint venture to provide primary and secondary education based on International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) syllabus. Bursary and scholarships were extended to the needy and deserving students to assist them in their education as part of the Group’s commitment towards training necessary human resources for the community.
Understanding the importance of education for children, Mr. Gooi is committed on behalf of the companies he helms to ensure that knowledge and skills are seamlessly passed down to the next generation, especially through LGEF.
