Mr. Gooi Seong Gum is one of the founders of LGEF which was set up in 2010 with the aim of providing financial assistance to needy students.
A Civil Engineering graduate from the University of Ottawa, Canada, Mr Gooi had a short stint as an engineering consultant with Bobrowski & Partners, Calgary, Canada before returning to Malaysia.
From 1980 until to-date, he has been a director of SKL, a company which owns a controlling stake in CCB and KLR, both are public companies listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad.
Mr. Gooi is an Executive Director of CCB and KLR since he was appointed to the board of CCB and KLR in 1995 and 1990 respectively. Since 1983, he has been a director of KLPO Group which is involved in palm oil milling. His experience covers oil palm and rubber estate management, property development and construction site management. He currently sits on the board of several other private companies.
With the wide exposure received from studying and working abroad, Mr. Gooi sees the value of education and how it can rightly shape a child’s future. He views LGEF as a platform for children to craft their paths and achieve a better life.
